There are four digits in the solution, one per card with pictures.
Except for the chemist at the bottom of each card, the words and pictures on each picture cards all have something in common.
The pink circled elements on the periodic table are the ones to try, although you will only use four of them.
The words, and the words represented by pictures, can all have something added to them to become other things.
When you add something to the words, you won't always add it to the start or end of the words. It might be in the middle.
Each card produces one digit (from the periodic table). The order of the digits is the chronological order of the chemists depicted on the cards. You can probably guess their order from their clothing and hairstyles.
Each card with words and pictures shows a set of words that can have a chemical symbol added to them to make a different word.
C + LEAN = CLEAN, and C + ROW = CROW, and C + AID = ACID
The elements you add are Be, C, H, and Li.
