This puzzle is complicated. There's enough information to solve it, but you often won't be sure of what you're doing. Don't despair! You need to build a path with 13 cards (not counting the Clues sign). The path goes from Start to End.
Each card in the path touches the cards before it and after it along one whole side (top, bottom, left, or right). All cards are oriented vertically, matching the card text.
Card 6 says the path makes 4 turns. That means the path has 5 segments. All turns are 90 degrees.
The monster referenced on some cards is not one of the cards - it's just in an empty spot adjacent to the cards that mention it.
'Due north' means all cards in a line north (above) the current card, i.e. in the same column. 'Immediately south' means the single next card south, touching the card in question.
'The river runs east-west' means that the river cards will all occupy the same row, although there may be empty spaces between them.
The four turns are right, right, left, left, so the path ends up heading the same direction as it started.
The path goes north two spaces, east three spaces, south three spaces, east two spaces, and north two spaces.
The order of the numbered cards on the path is 9-2-7-3-5-No Number-0-6-8-4-1.
