There are four different trips shown on the maps if you combine them in different ways.
The trips each visit four cities. The ending city for each trip is given on the hint card.
There are four numbers in the solution.
Each correct trip you construct gives you one digit of the solution.
The trips use 3 or 4 of the map cards, and the colored paths show you how to connect them.
Once you have a trip correctly assembled, read off the list of city names. The numbers are hidden in the list.
The solution code comes from combining city names in a simple way.
In each trip, the ending sound or letters of one city makes a number when combined with the beginning sound or letters of the next city.
Ottawa->New York == wa + n = 1. Boise + Rome = se + Ro = 0.
